How do you pick ripe burros?
Burro Bananas, as is true with most bananas, are harvested green and allowed to ripen during and after shipping. When ripe, the skin will be yellow with some black spotting.
How do you prepare ripe burros?
Burro bananas are versatile and slightly tangy, with a creamy texture that works well in both sweet and savory dishes. When ripe, their yellow skin and soft flesh make them perfect for eating raw, blending into smoothies, or baking into breads and muffins. Unripe burro bananas are starchier and ideal for cooking—fry them for a crispy snack, boil or steam them for a tender side dish, or grill them with a touch of cinnamon for a caramelized treat.
How do you store burros?
If bananas are not yet ripe, let them ripen naturally at room temperature until soft. The skin will be yellow with black spots and the flesh is creamy white, once ripe, At that point Burro Bananas may be refrigerated for a few days.
